Toned Cyanotype, Crested Cactus
Toned Cyanotype, Crested Cactus
Cyanotypes are naturally defined by their deep blue tones. In this experiment, I explored altering that characteristic by toning the print with coffee, softening the blue and introducing a warmer, more nostalgic atmosphere.
The result felt unexpectedly beautiful, with a quiet, aged quality that differs strongly from the original cyanotype palette. Although I chose to continue the series in platinum prints, this piece remains as a singular outcome of that exploration.
It is a unique work — not part of the final series — and therefore particularly rare. The image itself shows a crested cactus, a naturally rare and fascinating form.
