Collectors do not acquire images. They acquire works.

Some of Jan C Schlegel’s series are conceived as complete bodies of work, whose full meaning reveals itself only in their entirety. For this reason, selected series are offered as strictly limited portfolio editions—preserving the work as it was created: whole.

Complete Portfolio Editions

Some of Jan C Schlegel’s photographic series are conceived as complete bodies of work rather than as individual images. They emerge from a sustained process of observation and study—an investigation driven by the intention to understand a subject in depth. Each photograph forms part of a larger structure, where meaning unfolds through sequence, rhythm, and relation.

This approach defines works such as Life on Earth, Of Aliens, Mermaids and Medusas, Silent Giants, Liebkosungen, and Shalimar. These series are presented as coherent ensembles and are exhibited as complete works at major international art fairs, including Paris Photo and AIPAD Photography Show.

Selected series are available as complete portfolio editions. These are produced in strictly limited numbers and are presented in carefully designed museum-quality portfolio cases. Each set is conceived as a unified work, where the individual images gain additional meaning through their relation to one another.

All prints within these editions are handmade fine art prints by the artist using historical photographic processes, most notably platinum printing. The material qualities of the prints—surface, depth, and tonal richness—are integral to the experience of the work.

Complete editions are intended for collectors and institutions who seek to acquire a photographic series in its entirety, preserving both its conceptual integrity and its physical presence.

Detailed information on available editions, formats, and presentation is provided upon request.
